According to the statement made by one of Microsoft’s specialists at an RSA conference some time ago, it was said that 99.9% of the hacked Microsoft accounts were not secured with the 2FA verification also known as the Two Factor Authentication. That is the major cause for the vulnerability. To fight against cyberattacks on Microsoft accounts, one will need an extra layer of security. In light of that, we will be taking you through some steps on how to enable Two Factor Authentication on your Microsoft account.
Steps To Follow
1.) Login to your Microsoft account and open your Microsoft security page and there after, click on the “More Security options”. This option will provide you with more options to make your Microsoft account safer.
2.) On the next page, you will also be provided with options to either manage your sign-in options or enable your Two Step Authentication. The latter is were we are going to. So, click on “Set up Two Step Verification” to proceed.
3.) Follow instructions on the next page and click on “Next” to proceed. Now, you will be provided with this similar message “How else can we verify your identity?” In light of the above question, you will be provided with some drop boxes. Choose to verify with your phone number. After that, select your country’s code and type in your phone number. Now, click on “Next” to finish your 2FA set up process. Congrats! Your Microsoft account is extra secured.
NOTE: If you lose access to your 2FA record or phone number, you should get recovery codes. In this case, recovery codes will allow you to access your Microsoft account. Click “Supplant Recovery Code” under the “Recuperation Code” menu to receive a few recuperation codes for emergency use. Don’t forget to store it in a protected area.
